About

About Kitchener Electricians

A direct booking line for one vetted, ECRA/ESA licensed electrical contractor working across Kitchener, Breslau and the neighbouring parts of Woolwich and Wilmot Townships.

Kitchener Electricians is a booking line, not an electrical company and not a lead marketplace. One vetted electrical contractor receives every enquiry that comes through this site. There is no bidding, no list of competing firms, and no call centre; the person who looks at your panel is the person whose business quotes the job.

The site exists because electrical work is unusually easy to oversell. The homeowner usually cannot see the finished work, cannot judge it in progress, and is often calling because an insurer, an inspector or the city has told them they need something. That produces quotes for a 200-amp service where a subpanel would have done, a whole-house rewire where one attic run was live, a charger on a circuit the panel could not honestly feed, and work done without an ESA notification because nobody mentioned it. The contractor behind this line is chosen for doing the opposite: assessing first, showing the load calculation, breaking the scope out line by line, filing the notification under their own licence, and saying when the smaller job is the right one.

The city shapes the work. Kitchener's old core — Victoria Park, Cedar Hill, Mount Hope, the Civic Centre district, King East — is full of 60-amp services and knob-and-tube under plaster. Its mid-century suburbs carry aluminum terminations and full 100-amp panels. Its council has allowed up to four dwelling units on many lots since 2024, which makes suite wiring and metering a daily conversation. And its newest subdivisions south of the 401 want EV chargers on 200-amp services. The contractor works across all of it, plus Breslau and the rural roads of Woolwich and Wilmot.

What the licence means

In Ontario, the only businesses that can legally be hired to do electrical work in a home are Licensed Electrical Contractors, licensed through the Electrical Contractor Registration Agency of the Electrical Safety Authority. The licence carries a seven-digit ECRA/ESA number, the contractor files a notification of work with ESA for jobs that require one, ESA reviews the work, and ESA alone issues the Certificate of Acceptance that insurers, buyers and the city rely on. The contractor behind this site holds that licence; the number is on their quote and their truck, where you can check it with ESA. We do not print it here, because a number on a website cannot be verified and one on a quote can. The electricians doing the work are certified through Skilled Trades Ontario, and the business carries liability insurance and WSIB coverage, which you are entitled to ask to see.

What the contractor takes on

  • Service and panel upgrades: 60-amp fuse services to 200 amps, 100-to-200 upgrades, same-amperage panel replacement, subpanels, grounding and bonding, Enova Power coordination
  • EV charger installation: load calculations, dedicated Level 2 circuits, hardwired or receptacle, garage and driveway runs, load management
  • Knob-and-tube and aluminum wiring: written assessment, partial or whole-house rewiring, aluminum re-termination, ESA Certificate of Acceptance
  • Basement suite and addition wiring: suite circuits, interconnected alarms, subpanels, separate metering, coordination with the city's building permit
  • Troubleshooting and repairs: tripping breakers, dead outlets, flickering, warm devices, inspection and insurance defect lists, GFCI and small circuit work

What it does not take on

Commercial and industrial installations. Fire alarm systems. Low-voltage data, audio and camera cabling. The HVAC equipment itself — the circuit to a heat pump is electrical, the heat pump is not. Gas work, which belongs to a TSSA-registered contractor. Building permits, which come from the City of Kitchener or the relevant township, and the utility side of a service change, which belongs to Enova Power. When something is another trade's job you will be told so rather than quoted for it.

What this site will not do

Publish reviews or ratings it does not have. Invent a founding year or a history. Print a licence number where it cannot be verified. Quote a fixed price without seeing the house. Promise a rebate that could not be verified. Sell your phone number. The site is new, and it says what it can do and no more.

How this works

When you call 289-513-0160 or send the form, your details go directly to the electrical contractor covering Kitchener — not to a list and not to a call centre. Calls go to voicemail when the crew is in a panel, which is most of the working day; the message and your number reach them at once by text and email, and you should expect a call back the same day or the next working day. What helps: the street or neighbourhood, roughly when the house was built, whether the panel is fuses or breakers, what you want done, whether anyone has mentioned knob-and-tube or aluminum, and whether it is your home or a rental. A photo of the panel with the cover on is worth more than a paragraph. The next step is a visit to look at the service, the panel and the wiring that matters, with a load calculation if the job adds load. The written quote that follows breaks the scope out line by line, states which work needs an ESA notification and whether Enova Power is involved, and says how long the power will be off. The work is done under the contractor's own ECRA/ESA licence and insurance, the contractor files the notification, and the ESA Certificate of Acceptance comes to you. Nothing is added to your bill for the introduction.

What we won't do

  • Publish reviews we didn't earn. When we have them, they'll be real ones with names.
  • Quote a firm price before someone has seen the job.
  • Send anyone into your property who we would not have in our own.
